The Swedish Armed Forces required a digital training solution capable of preparing personnel across a wide range of disciplines—from leadership and compliance to mission-critical operations. Traditional eLearning formats lacked the flexibility and adaptability needed to serve such a diverse learner base.

Lexicon Interactive’s challenge was to design a training experience that could intelligently adapt to each learner’s performance, ensuring efficiency without sacrificing engagement or instructional rigor. The solution needed to be scalable, data-driven, and seamlessly deployable across the Armed Forces’ broad audience.

To meet this challenge, Lexicon Interactive turned to Lectora®, its primary authoring tool from ELB Learning®, for over 16 years. With Lectora’s robust architecture and flexible scripting capabilities, Lexicon Interactive integrated AI-driven adaptivity to personalize each learner’s path through the course.

With Lectora, the company created a highly responsive learning experience that adjusted content and difficulty based on real-time user performance. Learners who demonstrated proficiency advanced faster, while those needing reinforcement received targeted guidance and additional practice opportunities—all within a cohesive, visually engaging framework.

While Lectora was an important tool, what truly made the project award-winning was the combination of Lexicon Interactive’s deep instructional experience, curiosity, and close collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces. Lectora empowered the team to implement its ideas, but the innovation came from pushing creative and technical boundaries while leveraging AI in a truly useful, real-world way.

The project not only achieved outstanding learner engagement and performance metrics, but it also won the ‘Innovation of the Year’ award at the 2025 Swedish Learning Awards for the project ‘Generative AI in Digital Learning Production,’ developed in collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces.

The success of this initiative demonstrates how Lectora empowers instructional designers to move beyond traditional linear course models and build data-driven, learner-centered experiences that deliver measurable outcomes.
