Who gets tapped for leadership? The loudest voice, or the person who quietly makes everyone better? Many pipelines still reward polish and visibility over service and impact. This fast, practical session shows instructional designers how to build leadership development that also yields succession evidence HR can use, so the right people are seen, not just the most visible. We’ll map the two jobs every new leader must master—serving people and driving business performance, and introduce a third, often invisible ingredient, that turns good managers into trusted, culture-aligned leaders.
You’ll leave with a clear blueprint, a compact toolkit you can put to work next month, and a shared language to partner with HR so selection decisions are anchored in real contribution, not airtime.
By the end, attendees can:
- Audit current leadership pipelines for status bias (tenure traps, top-performer fallacy, charisma proxy).
- Design practice that produces proof. Experiences that generate assessable evidence of servant leadership and business impact.
- Stand up a succession assessment kit and a one-page succession packet for HR, and facilitate a de-biased calibration using anchored rubrics and a simple peer pulse.

Ready to transform your organization's learning, even as a team of one? This session is your secret weapon, packed with field-tested, plug-and-play ideas to cultivate a scalable, impactful, and exciting learning culture that people actually want to be a part of.
Get ready to be inspired by a real-world story of a single-person L&D team achieving outsized impact, and leave with action items you can use to start, build, or improve your own learning culture.
- Build a “want-to-do” culture, not a compliance program. Set the tone in onboarding with microlearning + gamified, social experiences, and secure at least one exec champion so recognition and momentum come from the top.
- Treat your LMS as a strategic partner and single hub. Choose a platform (and people) that can scale with you, integrate broadly, and support many formats—then use a must-have vs. dream-feature checklist to guide selection.
- How to create content quickly and without stressing. Attack the biggest pain point first, launch V1s with tools you already have, use AI to speed production, gather quick feedback, and showcase simple metrics (NPS, time saved, lessons launched) to fuel buy-in.

Driven by AI, the external environment is poised to change substantially within five to ten years, impacting customers, competitors, and investors. But experts are divided on how this will unfold. The torrent of media reflects the division and variety of expert views. Leaders need to rally to prepare for this uncertain, potentially jarring future. "The Coming Shock" provides a clear structure in four likely scenarios every organization should be prepared for.
Each scenario presents different challenges. Organizations need to build a shared understanding that leads to the identification of risks, opportunities, and safe plays.
From this strategy, companies and organizations can take action to prepare and posture for success. This session provides insight into the education challenge.

In L&D, program evaluation is often treated as the finish line. Did learners like it? Did they pass the test? Did it make an impact? Did it produce a healthy ROI?
These questions matter, but they represent only a small fraction of what measurement can reveal. Out of 100+ L&D measures, fewer than 10 focus on program evaluation. The rest help answer other questions: Are we aligning with strategy? Are we managing the L&D function efficiently and effectively? Are we building capability?
In this session, Measurement Demystified co-authors Peggy Parskey and Dave Vance will discuss where program evaluation fits within a broader measurement framework. You will expand your toolkit, capture what drives value, and use measurement as a lever for managing and improving learning at scale.
You’ll leave with:
- A broader, business-focused view of L&D measurement

Learning as an adult is hard. Indeed, it’s much harder than when we were kids and our brains had the plasticity of learning sponges. Today, our time at work is stretched too thin with a myriad of responsibilities and ever-changing priorities. Our attention is constantly sapped by a barrage of Slack messages, emails, texts, phone calls, and meetings. Our egos batted about like piñatas by near-constant feedback. So, it’s no wonder that when it comes time to take an elearning course at work, it’s natural that our defenses go up. You ask yourself, why should I take time from my crazy busy schedule to learn something marginally useful for my job, won’t fully engage me, will cause me to fall further behind on my long list of to-do’s, will make me feel like an idiot when I get questions wrong on the quiz, and which I’ll forget before the week is out?
Given these emotional and logistical brain barriers, our job of teaching adults is thus supremely challenging. What to do?
We need to change the psychological dynamic between employees and learning. We need to help adults want to learn by delivering content to them that emotionally engages them and is contextually relevant to their work. Thankfully, L&D professionals now have great tools at their disposal to generate meaningful content and deliver it to learners when they need it most.
During our session, we will discuss how to create emotionally engaging games for learners to wrestle with the content as well as to create a gamified, social learning community to motivate learning.
In this session, you will learn:
- Why traditional passive training fails to make learning stick
- How to engage adult learners across generations
- Measuring the impact of game-based learning and proving ROI

Everybody’s talking about "workflow learning," but few are actually doing it. The pressure is on: L&D leaders need to deliver learning that supports employees in the flow of work, not outside of it. Traditional training methods pull people away from their jobs while workflow learning supports them in the moment. It keeps them engaged, productive, and performing right where it matters most.
In this enlightening session, Chris King, the former executive director of the Five Moments of Need® Academy, will provide a practical, step-by-step approach for embedding learning directly into the daily workflow. Learn how to pinpoint the highest-impact opportunities, design support that fits seamlessly into the workflow, and shift from a “training mindset” to a performance mindset.
If your learners are drowning in training but starving for support at their moment of need, this webinar will show you how to train less and perform more.
Key Takeaways:
- Match the method to the moment. Choose the right approach for each of the Five Moments of Need®.
- Spot performance pressure points. Identify critical workflow moments where learning is needed most.
- Use Rapid Workflow Analysis (RWA). A practical tool to uncover high-risk tasks, pinpoint learning gaps, and deliver workflow support that actually changes performance.
